Through a babies eyes....

Having a newborn has really been an eye-opener to alot of things. I have seen her grow and develop almost daily. Her eye sight has inproved over time. She can now follow objects side to side and loves looking at lights, not sure how good this is for her though.

About a week ago I started noticing that when she is facing me she doesn't really look at me alot. She tends to look over my shoulder at the wall. She seems to be facinated with the wall even though there's nothing there...no light, no picture or mirror for her to focus on. This all got me thinking. Is there really nothing there or is it that I can't see what is there? Ariana will look over my shoulder and actually follow something with her eyes as if it's moving.

As a christian I firmly believe in the spiritual realm...angels and demons. Ariana's tracking got me thinking. What if we are able to see the spiritual as babies and lose this ability as we grow old. Maybe we begin to question it or just loose focus when we become children. Can she really see her guardian angel?

Dan told me of a time when she was really fussy and looked over his shoulder and calmed right down. This gives me even more evidence that God is always with us and sends his angels to watch over us all the time. God is good all the time. Amen.

Ariana loves sticking out her tongue...she usually does this when she's tired. We happened to get a shot of it when grandma was holding her. It turned out well.

TTC/Stroller Etiquette

Once again I found myself on the TTC with a stroller today. This day however, proved to be different than all the rest. I went on five different buses ( one during rush hour), and not once did I have a problem. No strollers refusing to get off, no old people with buggies blocking the way, no naive passengers telling me to take my baby out on the moving bus and rock her to make her stop crying and no grumpy people blocking the front with me so that I get all the dirty looks from people not being able to get by. I was actually pleased with my experience.
At Kennedy station there were three of us with strollers trying to get on the bus. Needless to say I was a little worried. As it turns out we all seemed to notice the same problem and therefore talked to eachother while we were waiting and figured out who was getting off last (me), middle and first. We then proceeded to get on the bus in this order. The result? Noone had to push their way needlessly through all the people, force the person behind them to take their buggy off just to put it back on again.
After being on the TTC with buggy for four weeks I have learned that there is such a thing as proper Stroller Etiquette.

Fellow Strollers.
1. Have stroller unlocked when the bus pulls up to save time.
2. Have fare ready, again to save time.
3. Don't stop right at the front door if your going past the next major street. People need to get on and off.
4. If there's a seat open...sit. Don't block it with the stroller just to stand and take up more room.
5. If another stroller needs to get off....get out then back on. Do Not try and move to the side...It Won't Work!
6. Likewise, if another stroller needs to get on the bus....move back....and pray that they know number 5.

Passengers.
1. If you see a stroller coming...Move Your Feet. If you don't it's you own fault and you have forfitted the right to compain when said feet get run over.
2. Don't block the aisles with useless crap. ie: Bags, Laptops, Feet etc.
3. Strollers are not there to be used as leaning posts, walkers or garbage bags....especially if they are not yours.
4. If the baby is crying...keep your mouth shut and buy a mp3 player. You don't know why it's crying...so don't suggest the parent takes the newborn baby out and rocks her on a Moving BUS. Carseats are the law for a reason.
5. If at any time you have a problem being next to a stroller...move...we won't.

One Month Old/Thanksgiving

That's right. My baby girl will be four weeks old on Friday. She has grown and developed so much in that one month, it's intriguing to think of where she will be at two months old.
Ariana has become so much more attentive and aware of what's around her.

Hearing: She can make out mommy and daddy's voice and will turn her head towards us...it takes awhile though.
Sight: She can now follow an object right infront of her from side to side. Vertically will come later I'm told.
Strength: Wow Ariana is strong. At two weeks she could lift her head and turn it slightly. At three weeks she can turn it from side to side when on her tummy. Now she can almost keep it up when help upright. Still needs a little support but not as much as before.

Milestones to get to: Still waiting for that first real smile. So far we have gotten smiles that were more accidental face play than meaning anything. Cooing is almost here, she is making a sound that's inbetween a coo and a cry. It'll be nice to have a sound that's not a cry soon.

OUR LIVES.

So now that you got the baby update, it's time for us. We have a busy two weeks. Dan's still off work and we had my parents down on Sun for church and then Dan's parents came down Sun till Tues to visit and help out. That was nice. Tues Melissa (next door neighbour) came back from South Africa. Fri we have friends comming to visit and then Sat we are going to my parents for Thanksgiving. I can;t wait to see everyone again. I miss family.
So that's that in a very small confined nutshell.
