Another Cute Picture To Share

Ariana loves sticking out her tongue...she usually does this when she's tired. We happened to get a shot of it when grandma was holding her. It turned out well.

TTC/Stroller Etiquette

Once again I found myself on the TTC with a stroller today. This day however, proved to be different than all the rest. I went on five different buses ( one during rush hour), and not once did I have a problem. No strollers refusing to get off, no old people with buggies blocking the way, no naive passengers telling me to take my baby out on the moving bus and rock her to make her stop crying and no grumpy people blocking the front with me so that I get all the dirty looks from people not being able to get by. I was actually pleased with my experience.
At Kennedy station there were three of us with strollers trying to get on the bus. Needless to say I was a little worried. As it turns out we all seemed to notice the same problem and therefore talked to eachother while we were waiting and figured out who was getting off last (me), middle and first. We then proceeded to get on the bus in this order. The result? Noone had to push their way needlessly through all the people, force the person behind them to take their buggy off just to put it back on again.
After being on the TTC with buggy for four weeks I have learned that there is such a thing as proper Stroller Etiquette.

Fellow Strollers.
1. Have stroller unlocked when the bus pulls up to save time.
2. Have fare ready, again to save time.
3. Don't stop right at the front door if your going past the next major street. People need to get on and off.
4. If there's a seat open...sit. Don't block it with the stroller just to stand and take up more room.
5. If another stroller needs to get off....get out then back on. Do Not try and move to the side...It Won't Work!
6. Likewise, if another stroller needs to get on the bus....move back....and pray that they know number 5.

Passengers.
1. If you see a stroller coming...Move Your Feet. If you don't it's you own fault and you have forfitted the right to compain when said feet get run over.
2. Don't block the aisles with useless crap. ie: Bags, Laptops, Feet etc.
3. Strollers are not there to be used as leaning posts, walkers or garbage bags....especially if they are not yours.
4. If the baby is crying...keep your mouth shut and buy a mp3 player. You don't know why it's crying...so don't suggest the parent takes the newborn baby out and rocks her on a Moving BUS. Carseats are the law for a reason.
5. If at any time you have a problem being next to a stroller...move...we won't.

If anyone wants to add to this either through commen sense or life experience..I've love to hear it.

One Month Old/Thanksgiving

That's right. My baby girl will be four weeks old on Friday. She has grown and developed so much in that one month, it's intriguing to think of where she will be at two months old.
Ariana has become so much more attentive and aware of what's around her.

Hearing: She can make out mommy and daddy's voice and will turn her head towards us...it takes awhile though.
Sight: She can now follow an object right infront of her from side to side. Vertically will come later I'm told.
Strength: Wow Ariana is strong. At two weeks she could lift her head and turn it slightly. At three weeks she can turn it from side to side when on her tummy. Now she can almost keep it up when help upright. Still needs a little support but not as much as before.

Milestones to get to: Still waiting for that first real smile. So far we have gotten smiles that were more accidental face play than meaning anything. Cooing is almost here, she is making a sound that's inbetween a coo and a cry. It'll be nice to have a sound that's not a cry soon.

OUR LIVES.

So now that you got the baby update, it's time for us. We have a busy two weeks. Dan's still off work and we had my parents down on Sun for church and then Dan's parents came down Sun till Tues to visit and help out. That was nice. Tues Melissa (next door neighbour) came back from South Africa. Fri we have friends comming to visit and then Sat we are going to my parents for Thanksgiving. I can;t wait to see everyone again. I miss family.
So that's that in a very small confined nutshell.

Two for one deal

Yes another post. I still have ten minutes before feeding time so it's no use sleeping...why not blog.

Dan is officially on vacation. yay help! Poor guy. I will admit that I have been using the husband helping hand to my full advantage. I have been so tired with feeding and healing and the occasional change, poor Dan has been thrust with laundry and cooking and cleaning and yes still diapar changes and trying to get a baby to take medicine. Ok the last one is a duel job. I feel bad but at the same time I find myself so relieved by my small breaks that I really don't mind.

I'm hoping we get to get out and enjoy some quality time together before he has to go back. We have a wedding on Sat. Congrats Amber and Tristian. I have heard from BT (for those unfamiliar with BT, this is Breakfast Television, Toronto's morning show and my new six o'clock feeding friend) that there are alot of fall festivals going on in Ontario. I used to love going to them as a kid and would love to find one that we can get to. If anyone knows any let me know. Dan, if I forget to mention it....I want to go to a fall festival.

Anyways it's feeding time and like clockwork Ariana is starting to wake.

Love and blessings

Survival of yet another night.

Well it's 8:30 and I'm still alive, I think. Since we brought her home, Ariana has been pretty routine with her colicy/restful nights. I pretty much know that if she was fussy the one night, she'll be good the next and visa versa.
Well last night she decided to change all that. She was cranky and fussy the night before so I settled down around 10 thinking I would get up at the usual 3hr intervals to feed and change and then get a nice two hours sleep in between.
She fed, fussed and slept. Then she woke up at 12ish. After three hours of eating, crying, screaming, trying to catch her breath from screaming, finding that breath and screaming some more, pooping a diapar full due to stress, she finally settled down. Then it was time for her next feeding. A very tired and frustrated mom and dad fed and changed her....again...then she fell fast asleep. I managed to sleep till 6 then again till 8.
Besides the difficult night screaming sessions, parenthood is wonderful. As hard and tiring as it is, all Ariana has to do is start making her Elvis lip or doctor evil face while she's sleeping and mommy melts. She has also developed the cutest yawn in the world. (eyebrows raised and head thrown back with both little fists stretched out.)
I took her to her first church service yesterday. We are doing landscaping at the front of our church so I was forced to go in the side door. This door happens to open right at the front of the sanctuary. It took me twenty minutes to make it from the front all the way around to the kitchen. It was nice to show her off though. I had my first service in the mothers room hanging out and baby talking with two new dads.

My beautiful girl!

We're back!

Ariana and I are finally home. She's beautiful and sleeping peacfully, I'm drained and wishing I was sleeping peacfully. This will probably be a short blog but I thought I'd give everyone an update from the source.

Ariana Lynn Morrison born 8:43am Fri Sept 12, 2008 weighing 8lbs 10oz.

Wow, how on earth do woman do that more than once. I don't rememeber much of the labour, and what I do I'd rather not, but it's true what they say, it's worth it and you don't remember the pain....much. I'm still trying to heal (they don't tell you about that either). Thanks dad for the cushion, its helping. Dan and I are still recovering from a serious lack of sleep but we lucked out last night and both got about six hours total, a rarity I'm told.

Ariana had borderline Jandice (sp?) so we ended up having to spend the next three days in the hospital, her under a phototheropy light, me and dan on really uncomfortable beds. There's nothing worse than finally seeing your baby and not being able to hold her except to feed. I'm making up for that now. She loves cuddling up to mommy and daddys chest and just lying there listen to our heartbeat.
She finally came home and is doing great...she's very very greedy when it comes to food though. Wow breastfeeding takes forever.

Cutest moment so far,

I was burping her, then let her lay on my chest for a bit to give her a break from feeding. She was fighting sleep and pushed her head up with her eyebrows raised and both hands fisted by her face and gave the biggest yawn. It was one of those why don't I have a camera within arms reach moments.

Well I think that's it so far, not to much to report except eat, sleep, stare and poop.
We thank everyone for thier prayers and support.
